Structure and function of ras and Blym oncogenes.

چکیده
The biologic activity of tumor DNA, detected by transfection of NIH 31'3 mouse cells, has led to the identification of transforming genes which are activated in a variety of human, rodent, and avian neoplasms (see [5] for recent review). The transforming genes of some neoplasms are cellular homologs of the ras genes of Harvey and Kirsten sarcoma viruses. Other neoplasm transforming genes, such as Blym-l, are unrelated to ras or to other retroviral transforming genes. In this article, I will discuss recent work related to functional analysis of the ras and Blym-l gene products.

Transforming genes in human leukemia cells.
High-molecular weight DNAs of fresh bone marrow cells from 32 patients with fresh leukemia were assayed for the presence of transmissible activated transforming genes by a DNA-mediated gene transfer technique using NIH/3T3 cells. DNAs of bone marrow cells from four of the 32 patients induced transformation of NIH/3T3 cells. Two of the four cases, a chronic myelogenous leukemia and an acute lymp...
متن کاملبررسی جهشهای ژن N-RAS در اطفال مبتلا به لوسمی لنفوبلاستیک حاد(ALL)
Background: Acute leukemia is the prevalent malignancy in pediatrics. One of the most important causing factors of acute lymphoblastic leukemia is mutations of proto oncogenes and their chang in to oncogenes. Activation of N-RAS proto-oncogene due to point mutations plays a major role in ALL malignancy. Since there was no report on the frequency of N-RAS gene mutation in Iranian pediatric AL...
متن کاملTLym 1, a stage-specific transforming gene which shares homology to MHCI genes and encodes a secreted protein.
We previously reported the identification of five different genes activated in human and mouse leukemias and lymphomas [1]. Three of these genes were found to be activated in a stage-specific manner in B cell lineage neoplasms. The gene activated in multiple human intermediate B stage tumors, BLym I which shares substantial homology with chicken BLym I [2] was isolated from human Burkitt's lymp...
متن کاملRegulation of membrane turnover by ras proteins.
Because ras oncogenes mediate abnormal cellular growth, ras proteins have been presumed to play a role primarily in growth control. The biological function of ras proteins may, however, prove to be much more diverse: ras proteins may be involved in cellular functions that control endocytosis and/or exocytosis.
متن کاملTransformation of Epstein-Barr virus immortalized human B-cells by chemical carcinogens.
Epstein-Barr virus-immortalized human lymphocytes were used to analyze the transition from the benign hyperproliferative to the malignant transformed state. Treatment with N-acetoxy-2-acetylaminofluorene, a potent frameshift mutagen, induced conversion of the Epstein-Barr virus immortalized lymphocytes into high-grade "immunoblastic lymphomas" on injection into athymic mice, whereas injection o...
